5 Attainable Resolutions in 2023

I am not the type to make resolutions. I have awful follow-through with most things, and often forget I even had a plan, to begin with! Nevertheless, I also can’t resist a clean slate. A fresh calendar page, a blank planner, and an empty notebook. That’s the good stuff! I love to look at a blank sheet and have that feeling of endless possibilities. So, I like the possibilities a new year brings, but I don’t love the pressure of a traditional resolution. In case you feel the same way, I’ll leave my attainable resolutions for 2023 below.

#1 Spend More Time Outside

Have you heard of the 1,000 hours outside movement? A mom with young kids was starting to lose it (who can blame her?) being cooped up inside and feeling overwhelmed with all of the things that come with that. So, she went outside. She found that parenting was easier outside. She found that she was happier, her children were happier, and life was better. Honestly, can’t we all relate to that?? Inside, there are always tasks to complete. The chores are never done. The last dish is never cleaned. Toddlers are always climbing chairs and pulling the dog’s tail.

This year, now that my son is officially a toddler and is walking and running, my goal is to be outside as much as possible this year with him. It can be really challenging. Some days I’m tired, I don’t feel like it, or the weather is just awful. My son absolutely loves it, though, and he does so much better throughout the day if we get outside. Plus, I have a much better attitude and I am a much more patient mama when I get outside as well! So, we will be participating in the 1,000 hours outside challenge this year, and I cannot wait to see how it benefits our family.

#2 Family Minimalism/ Intentional Living

We live in a time when we are drowning in more stuff than ever before. Never before in human history have common people had as many things as we do. This can be such a blessing, but it is also a huge burden, especially for moms who are home managing allll of the things! The past few days I have been on a major decluttering kick, and it has been so fun. I love having breathing room in our guest room and don’t even miss the 50 pieces of clothing I decluttered.

My hope for this year is to continue to be intentional about the items we bring into our home and what I spend my money on. At the same time, if and when the wrong choice is made, just let it go! This can be a challenge with baby stuff and all of those sentimental items that come along with raising little ones (hello photos!). I’m sure this is something I will talk about in future posts as well because I am becoming very passionate about it.

What my husband and I decluttered just from our clothing in January 2023!

#3 Metabolic Nutrition Focus

Pregnancy and breastfeeding are so hard on women’s bodies, so in 2023, I plan to intentionally rebuild my mineral stores and balance my hormones to prepare my body for more pregnancies. This is definitely a journey and no one will ever “arrive”, but it is so fun to learn and change things to improve mood, sleep, and overall health. If you are curious about resources of where to start learning more, let me know!

#4 Read More

This is pretty self-explanatory. I think we would all like to read more! I have a list of books I’m hoping to dive into this year and would like to get through at least one book a month in 2023. We can do this together!

#5 Sleep More

Having a toddler is rough, y’all. Sleep is not the norm around here as I’m typing this. We are working on using red lights at night, upping our magnesium through bath soaks and magnesium lotion, and incorporating tart cherry gummies before bed! If you’re in a similar season, you’re not alone, we are definitely in this together.

What are your “resolutions”? Do you have any goals you’ve been thinking about for a while now? One of my friends said that she and her husband treat each new month as an opportunity to create new goals and resolutions. I really like that and I think that might be something I start to implement this year as well.

Happy 2023 and talk to you next time!
